IT cost reduction and sourcing strategy

The divisional CIO of a global branded pharmaceutical company was challenged by management to reduce costs in low value added IT functions while improving the value of his organization to the division. We worked the CIO to define and prioritize the IT portfolio and define a global sourcing strategy and operating model to reduce the costs in the “legacy applications and services.” We also developed a consulting organization in the IT function that would provide high value services to the division at a better cost than external consultants. The vision and blueprint were presented to both division and corporate management and used as a template for the other divisions.
